Besides the twisting and turning plot lines that follow the Crawley family in early 20th century England, besides the beautiful, artistic filming, besides the engrossing quality of the lives of three lovely sisters as they love, learn, and live- there is another element of Downton Abbey that we cannot get enough of.
The fashion.
Evening wear circa 1920 that makes us want to step in a time machine if only to wear those delicate lace sleeves, those long white gloves and cameo brooches, those elegant chignons and floral appliqués.
And we’re not the only ones.
Downton Abbey-inspired frocks made appearances in numerous spring/summer 2012 collections, and none other than Ralph Lauren opened his fall/winter 2012/2013 runway with the show’s theme song.
We’re obsessed. With the third season premiering in September, we can only imagine what glorious fashions and plot turns await us.
After watching the first two seasons of Downton Abbey a few months ago (within a week, it should be noted) and falling head-over-heels in love (mostly with Mathew Crawley), we have only one question:
Why is September so far away?
M.
