Featured blogger: From Fall Trends to Winter Staples

When summer ends, I’m so disappointed that my vibrant colors are no longer going to fly until spring. Fall colors, however, are a little bit easier to hold on to throughout the seasons. The colors are more toned down, demure and chic and can be more easily translated into winter outfits–with the right color combinations and accessories!

The deeper toned florals were a Fall must, now for winter they can be worn with a deeper color. Here, I picked up the blue in the shirt with a navy skirt covered in sequins for fun contrast. I of course added tights because of the colder weather and carried the color black in the rest of the look with the belt and cardigan, making the look more cohesive.

Deep green is a popular Fall color, it’s very flattering and compliments most skin tones and hair colors due to its rich hue. To make it more winter-like I wore warm, comfy boots (throw on some riding boots–another Fall trend!) in a neutral color and dark wash jeans. Lighter colored jeans are more spring/warm weather feeling, not to mention how incredibly figure flattering they are! A scarf in winter white with flecks of glitter infuse an element of brightness into the outfit.

Oxblood. The absolute hottest colors of this Fall season. So, if it’s so fab for Fall, how do you make it wonderful for winter? Start by thinking about what makes Winter Fashion what it is… The layers. Black goes with everything and is appropriate for every occasion so throw on a heavy blazer over that oxblood top and a figure flattering skirt. What an easy transition! Don’t forget the heels!

My favourite thing to do in the Fall is go on long walks in the trails and appreciate the vibrant colours of the changing leaves. Mother Nature is beautiful!

Featured Blogger: Become A Fall Fashionista With Leggings

Fall is officially here!

There is so much to love about Fall in the world of fashion. Bold colours, chunky knits, oversized scarves, and gorgeous women’s shoes. But there’s one thing in your wardrobe that should not go underrated this season: leggings. And I know we all own a pair (or ten).

The great thing about leggings is that they are fashion forward yet comfortable, and can be styled differently to achieve several different looks!

One very popular look for leggings is the oversized sweatshirt.  This is a great look if you are going for the “I just got out of bed but I still look fabulous” look.  Simply pair any type of sweatshirt, like off the shoulder or a cowl neck, with any color of leggings tucked into your favorite flat boots.  Pair this with a large handbag and sunglasses and you are ready to go!

Another cute and casual look is pairing leggings with a tunic.  This can be a fun and flirty look when paired with chunky heels and a thick belt.  Wear this to a lunch date and you will for sure turn some heads.

For a more conservative look, pair neutral leggings with a sweater dresses and boots.  For a more lighter and fun look, put on coloured leggings with a neutral blouse. If you’re feeling bold, try rocking a printed pair! Leopard leggings are sure to be a hit.

Don’t be afraid to pair things that are a little out of your comfort zone!

Fashion has no limits, dress to impress, but most importantly, be happy and comfortable in what you wear.

Lana Del Rey’s H&M campaign!!!!!

If you can’t tell by all my exclamation marks, I am super excited that, after what felt like forever waiting, Lana Del Rey’s campaign for H&M has launched!

As the preview I posted back in July demonstrated, she looks absolutely flawless (well, duh, she is flawless)!

I love her big beauty queen hair, pouty lips, and and sultry poses. As for the clothes, I particularly like the peach angora sweater and gray tweed dress.

Check out the commercial and ad campaign below:

What are your thoughts on the campaign? Isn’t she absolutely stunning?

I have been listening to her album 24/7 for the last two months, and have developed a serious girl crush. So, I may be slightly bias.

Always chic,

L.

Emerald Envy

I have just fallen in love with emerald all over again! Lately, I’ve been seeing this colour in stores everywhere (H&M, Zara, Forever21, the usual…) and I just think it’s a perfect colour to transition into Fall with.

Emerald just so happens to be my birth stone (I’m a May baby), so it makes for a good excuse to invest in some jewels. It is a very expensive stone, unfortunately, so I might have to stick with costume jewellery for the time being!

And since green is on my mind, I must confess: I am so sick of mint green!!!! It may be slightly hypocritical of me to announce that while looking at my mint nail polish, but I had to say it. I am planning to retire the colour until next spring. Who’s with me?

I love emerald because it is such a rich and regal colour. Pair it with gold accents and you’ll have your fellow fashionistas green with envy! I also love it when contrasted again cobalt blue.

Here are some images that have inspired me to embrace emerald this fall:

Satin Trousers from Zara – $49.90

Show off your body in this fitted dress from Forever 21 for $10.50! (I do not recommend pairing this little number with hooker heels!)

Yves Saint Lauren Cabas Chyc leather tote – $2150 from Net-A-Porter. I would LOVE a YSL bag before they change names to “Saint Laurent Paris”… sigh.

Kate Bosworth rocking a sequined emerald mini

What other colours are you looking forward to wearing this fall?

Always chic,

L.

James Franco, Fashion Photographer

Is there anything he can’t do?

Besides being an actor, poet, Playboy columnist, and an all-around hunk, James Franco is adding fashion photographer to his ever-growing resume.

Cue the new 7 For All Mankind fall campaign. Our favourite jack-of-all-trades, er, James, is the force behind the camera, capturing gorgeous models (including Lily Donaldson) in gorgeous clothes (we’re going gaga over the reptile prints).

Says Franco about the campaign: “The whole aesthetic approach of the campaign is based on the eternal hipness of the clothes. We can do a meditation on old and new Hollywood at the same time because of the way the clothes fit into all eras.”

Well, hopefully the clothes fit us as well as they do those models (ha, we wish!).
